An antique train departed from the Vatican railway station on September 11; 2015 to inaugurate a weekly service to the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo (or the Apostolic Palace; le palais des papes; Papstpalast ) which Pope Francis has opened to the public. .Castel Gandolfo; this lakeside little town outside of Rome is the Popes' summer residence for 400 years.
