Marble well with a portrait of Jesus Christ near the altar of the basilica San Bartolomeo all'Isola (St. Bartholomew on the Island; basilique Saint-Barthelemy-en-l'ile).The church was founded in 998 by Otto III; Holy Roman Emperor and contains relics of St. Bartholomew the Apostle. It is located on Tiber Island (isola Tiberina; ile Tiberine; Tiberinsel); on the site of the former temple of Aesculapius.Reconstructed; with its present Baroque fa鏰de; in 1624; to designs of Orazio Torriani.
