Acquired ichthyosis. This condition causes persistent dry, thick, scaly skin. It occurs in adulthood and may be triggered by another condition or drug. Treatment is with moisturisers and exfoliants to soften the skin. Treatment of the underlying disease or discontinuation of the causative drug may effect a cure.
