Tuscany; Siena: Palio victory flag of Contrada della Selva at corner to Piazza del Duomo with oak tree leaves and coat of arms; The Contrada della Selva (forest) is one of the 17 historic contrade of Siena which take part at the Palio of Siena. Originally weavers; the members of Contrada della Selva became famous in local military history for being excellent archers. The coat of arms shows a rhinoceros under an oak tree hung with hunting tools. On top; there is a golden sun on blue ground. In the centre of the sun; there is an "U" for King Umberto I of Italy. Colours of the contrade are green and orange. The privilege of showing the flag in public is due to the victory of Selva at the Siena Palio; on 16th of August; 2019.
