A SET OF FOUR MONUMENTAL ORMOLU WALL APPLIQUES WITH VICTORIES.
Paris. 19th c.

Bronze gilt. Volute-shaped wall console decorated with acanthus leaves and rosettes. On it a Victoria striding on a ball. With one arm raised she holds a six-flamed candlestick; the arms designed as cornucopias with swan head ornaments. Height ca. 90cm. Condition C. All branches wired for electricity. All branches broken several times.

Provenance:
Private collection Kassel; according to oral traditions in the family probably from Kassel Castle or L鰓enburg Castle.

The gold-plated bronze with Victoria was used for sconces as well as for candelabras and were part of the new palace furnishings that were used between 1808 and 1813 for Jer鬽e Bonaparte.Art trade; Van Ham.
