Drinking horn from the Amsterdam Company of Arquebusiers Drinking horn from the Amsterdam Company of Arquebusiers Drinking horn from the Kloveniersgilde in Amsterdam; The drinking horn consists of a buffalo horn that is clamped in the middle in a silver carrier and has a silver frame on both ends. The stretched quad-shaped arched base of the carrier has a wide; flat bottom edge. The multi-profiled wall rejuvenates somewhat and merges at the top into a slightly arched soil in which a pattern of extremely fine pits is punched. A naturalistic tree is rooted on it; the trunk of which is punched with a pattern of fine grooves. On the ground there are a few laid grasses and a plant around the tree. The crown of the tree with pointed serrated leaves covers the dense underside of the frame in which the horn is clamped. The tree is held by a dragon and a lion; both standing on the hind legs and with their torso turned. The upper part of the frame is open on both sides with asymmetrical leaf aisles. It is crowned by the Dutch lion; standing on two coats of arms of the city of Amsterdam; both of which are supported by a bird's claw (symbol of the Kloveniersgilde). The frame has multiple profiled edges; as well as the wide silver band around the mouth of the horn; which is finished at the bottom with a pointed serrated edge. The silver frame at the tip of the horn has the shape of a dragon's head; the neck of which is engraved with floral scrolls. This frame is closed by an imposed knurled edge.; Arent Cornelisz Coster (attributed to); Amsterdam; 1547; silver (metal); h 38.0 cm x w 61.0 cm
