Erasmus (1604 / 5-1664 / 5); Standing on a quadrangular plinth; in a forward-standing position with the left foot forward. An open foliant rests on his left hand; of which he holds a few leaves with his right. He wears a beret and over a garment; which is visible at the neck and closed at the wrists with buttons; a fur-lined tabard. It is held together with a band around the waist; has a standing collar and wide sleeves that are folded back at the wrists. A fur-lined scarf hangs over the shoulders; the long ends of which depend on the front. The loose and low pedestal d cover plate and base of roller ornament; has a proverb hanging on a ring at the front; Desiderius Erasmus; Albert Jansz.
