British knightly order (The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George); received by Willem Drees; Black-leather box; with the letters 'GCMG' on the outside of the lid; in which the decorations of the Grand Cross (Knight Grand Cross) of The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George; United Kingdom; granted to Prime Minister W. Drees; the order was established in 1818; has the reigning monarch as its head and is only granted to foreigners in exceptional cases. The decorations consist of an order mark with shoulder strap and an order star. The order mark is a seven-armed; white enameled gold star hanging from the crown of the empire. The middle medallion shows the archangel Michael in multiple colors on one side with a flaming sword trampling the devil; and has the caption 'Auspicium melioris aevi' (A collateral for better times); the reverse shows Saint George and the dragon and has the same inscription. The sign is connected with a ring on a blue shoulder strap with red stripes. The ordester is a seven-armed; brilliantly set silver star with golden beams between the arms; on which lies a red Saint George cross under the middle medallion; on which the archangel Michael with the same golden lettering on a dark blue background as on the order mark.
