LARGE STORAGE VESSEL
China; Yuan- or Ming period. Presumably from the cizhou kilns in Northern China; Province Hebei.

Heavy body; covered with a thick ferrous engobe and black-brown glaze with a delicately speckled iron-brown surface. In the upper third the vessel is decorated by a honeycomb-shaped pattern; in the middle there is a distinct groove; which is due to turning. The padded lip is thinly glazed in khaki; on the body there are several efflorescences of iron. Height 36 cm; ?39 cm. Condition A/B.

The dating of this lot is consistent with the results of the thermoluminescence test no. 01230607 by the Kotalla laboratory.
