750/- yellow gold; silver; green enamel; total weight: 40;5g. Length ca. 9;0cm. 7 faceted almadines diameter ca. 7;4x7;4x4;7 - 3;6x2;8x1;6mm (partly with chippings); 9 freshwater cultured pearls; diameter ca. 5;4-2;8mm; white-iridescent rose.
Verso signed FROMENT-MEURICE. One pendant in Renaissance Revival Style; depicting Saint Cecilia playing a violin surrounded by four putti. Francois D閟ir?Froment-Meurice is regarded as one of the most important goldsmiths of the 19th century; his work focussing on the Renaissance and Gothic Revival. Other depictions of this brooch can be found at the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim and Victoria and Albert Museum London. The coloured stone pearl elements are detachable.
