Tuscany; Carmignano; Villa medicea di Artimino (Medici villa Artimino): view at night; detail with staircase of 1930 and Loggia; The villa was built 1596 - 1600 as a hunting lodge and summer residenz in the huge Medici hunting area Barco Reale (Royal Park) for Ferdinando I de`Medici (1549 - 1609); Grand Duke of Tuscany; and his wife; Christina of Lorraine (1565 - 1636); Grand Duchess of Tuscany. The design was realized by court architect Bernardo Buontalenti (1531 - 1608). The huge outside staircase was added; in 1930; by architect Lusini according to the design of Buontalenti; ordered by owner Contessa (Countess) Maraini. The villa; UNESCO World heritage since 2013; is also called "Villa of the 100 chimneys". In total; there are 56 chimneys on the roof; one for each room in the villa.
