Italy; Tuscany; Lucca: costume of second act of opera Turandot by opera composer Giacomo Puccini (1858 - 1924); The costume was worn during act II of the first staging of Turandot at metropolitan Opera in New York; in 1926. The donated costume is in the Museo Casa Natale Giacomo Puccini (Museom Hosue orf Birth of Giacomo Puccini) which is located 50 m off Piazza Cittadellamo. Here; the famous opera composer was born; on 22nd of December; 1858. He became world famous for his operas Madame Butterfly; Turandot; Tosca or La boh鑝e. Most famous is his song "Nessun dorma" (nobody sleeps) from Turandot including the phrase "vincero" (I will win); interpreted by Luciano Pavarotti.
