Estonia; Ida-Viru County; city of Narva: Nicolay Lund; "Damascus Gate in Jerusalem"; painted in the beginning of 20th century; oil on canvas (53;5 x 71 cm); in Narva Art Gallery; established 1991; The art gallery was opened; in 1991; when Estonia became independant. It is part of the Narva city museum and hosts the permanent collection of artworks from the 19th and 20th century; donated by the couple Lavretsov to the city of Narva; around 1900. In starting 20th century; it used to be one of the most important art collections; in the Baltic States. The art gallery is housed in an old ammunition depot of 18th century; which survived as one of only three major buildings in Narva; World War II. The gallery also hosts temporary shows; for example textiles and textile designs from Kreenholm Manufactory.
