Photograph - 'A Corner in Albert'; France; Sergeant John Lord; World War I; 1916-1917; Black and white photographic print which shows the partially destroyed streets of Albert. The small French town of Albert was used by the Allied forces during 1916 as the major control centre for the planning of the Battle of the Somme. The headquarters of the Australian divisions were also temporarily based at Albert due to the heavy fighting that was taking place close by at Pozieres.
