Dandong; Liaoning Province; China is the crossing point over the Yalu River to Sinuiji; DPRK (North Korea). Both bridges were Japanese built and both regularly damaged during the early 1950's Korean War.Yalu River Broken Bridge; where this image was taken from; is a truncated railway swing bridge completed in 1911; connecting Korean peninsula into the Eurasian network. Bombing destroyed eight spans over the Korean side of the river - today it is a tourist attraction.The Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge (on this image) was built between April 1937 and May 1943. It was repaired aftet the Korean War and continues to carry road and rail traffic between China and the DPRK.Photo at DPRK end of Broken Bridge - looking across the remaining concrete piers towards Sinuiji.
