Great fighter, poor king. But we Brits love him, anyway. Richard I was King of England from 6 July 1189 until his death. He was the third of five sons of King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. He was known as Richard C???泉r de Lion or Richard the Lionheart because of his reputation as a great military leader and warrior. This heroic equestrian statue was created by Baron Carlo Marochetti and is located in Old Palace Yard outside the Palace of Westminster, opposite Westminster Abbey in London.
