Zohar, a female manikin part of the Matroshka Astrorad Radiation Experiment (MARE), being prepared for NASA's Artemis I mission, scheduled to launch on the 29th of August 2022. The MARE experiment aims to investigate the radiation risk onboard the Artemis I mission to the Moon. Zohar will wear a newly developed radiation protection vest during the flight. The experiment will test how effective the vest is at protecting female astronauts from radiation exposure. Data collected from Zohar will be compared to data collected from Helga, an identical female manikin also flying on the Artemis I mission. However Helga will not wear a radiation protection vest during the flight. The Artemis program aims to land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024.
