Aerial view of the Perseverance rover's backshell taken by NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter on the 19th of April 2022. The aerial image was requested by engineers working on the Mars Sample Return Mission program in order to see how the components of the rover have fared after entry, descent and landing. The tangle of cables coming out of the rover's backshell are suspension cables that attached the backshell to the supersonic parachute (far left). The parachute and backshell protected the rover during its descent toward the Martian surface.
