Yellow and orange areas are between 24 and 30 degrees C, while red areas are between 30 and 40 degrees C, with darker red areas being hotter. Black areas are between 40 and 45 degrees C. Heatwaves so far in June and July have broken high temperature records in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and caused wild fires, crop failures and damage to infrastructure as well as loss of life.
