This mite, which was introduced to Central Europe from Southeast Asia, parasitises bees. In Asia it affects only drone maggots, but in Europe it also affects the maggots of workers. It is therefore a major pest of beekeeping. The mite is treated by pumping formic acid or oxalic acid vapours into the beehive. Magnification: x30 when printed at 15 centimetres wide.
