Punting on the Cam - under Mathematics Bridge, Queen's College Cambridge 2 Cambridge, Cambridgeshire - 20 July 2009; Group of people in view, having fun. Punting on the River Cam in summer, approaching Mathematical Bridge of Queens' College, Cambridge. The distinctive bridge was designed by William Etheridge and built by James Essex in 1749. It takes its name from the popular fable that it was designed and built by Sir Isaac Newton without the use of nuts or bolts. Regretfully, the myth is untrue - a pity! Editor Note - taken in plain view on public land, unticketed and free to enter.
