Solar Orbiter image of the Sun's south pole taken by the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) instrument aboard the Solar Orbiter spacecraft. The lighter areas of the image show closed magnetic field lines, created by loops of magnetism from the solar interior. Darker areas of the image show regions where the Sun's magnetic field line is open. This allows for gases to escape and create solar wind. Photographed on the 30th March 2022.
