Wrecked Enemy Shipping In Bay Of Naples Enemy ships lie almost completely submerged in the harbor at Castellammare, Italy, at the southern end of the Bay of Naples after Liberation of the port by the advancing Allies in their campaign on the Italian mainland. Allied bombers pounded the port for months before the Germans were driven from the area. The Germans used it as a supply port for their troops in North Africa and Sicily until those forces were defeated by the Allied armies. November 29, 1943.
