Rochford Hangs Out The Coronation Flags -- In wash-day style, Coronation flags are hung cut to dry in the snow at the Rochford, Essex, factory operated by Mr. William Parrack. Hanging out the flags to-day (Tuesday) are left - right - Nellie Webb (Eastwood); Shirley Wellington (Rochford); Jean Cushen (Eastwood); and Rita McGrath (Southend). At the factory - a former isolation hospital - at least ten miles of flags are being produced in time for the Coronation. Each flag is nine feet long. The wash-day technique is being used as a temporary measure while drying plant is installed. January 6, 1953. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
