Historic Block Taken From Coronation -- The view from the Altar showing the coronation chair with the scone stone beneath the seat, in its setting. The historic scone stone (on which Scots kings were crowned) was stolen from beneath the seat of the Coronation chair in Westminster Abbey in the early hours of Christmas Day. The Stone was taken from Scotland more than 600 years ago. (The chair was made i 1299- three years after the Scone Stone was seized by Edward I ("Long Shanks"). December 27, 1950.
