Accession of Queen Elizabeth II Proclaimed in Accra. The Accession to the Throne of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was proclaimed with traditional ceremony at Accra, Gold Coast. The Proclamation was read by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Charles Arden-Clarke, K.C.M.G., from the balcony of the Supreme Court of Justice, to the crowds who had gathered in the street below.
