Fundoscopy of the retina of the right eye of a male patient showing a massive retinal haemorrhage causing a detached retina (centre left). The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. Treatment is with surgery to reattach the retina. If treatment is not prompt there can be some permanent loss of vision.
