Illustration showing Napoleon leading forces at the Battle of Austerlitz on the 2nd of December 1805. The Battle of Austerlitz was the first engagement of War of the Third Coalition and occurred close to Austerlitz, then in the Austrian Empire. Napoleon lead a French army victory against larger coalition of Russian and Austrian forces. The Austrians and the Russians lost over 15,000 men whilst the French lost 9,000 men. After the battle, the Austrians were forced to sign the Treaty of Pressburg.
