A ploughed field in Lanzarote strewn with volcanic rocks that make it difficult to cultivate. The pumice rocks are often collected to build walls and cultivation shelters. Pumice is an igneous rock with holes or vesicles formed by gas trapped in the liquid magma when it is ejected in a volcanic eruption. These vesicles are clearly visible in the image.
