The artist, Arthur George Walker, was a painter and sculptor. He produced sculptures for several World War One memorials. Those in Dartford, Sevenoaks and Ironbridge feature the figure of a British ?Tommy? recently returned from the Western Front. Walker also produced statues of Florence Nightingale (Waterloo Place), and Emmeline Pankhurst (Victoria Tower Gardens, Westminster), in London.); by National Army Museum .
