George Service, a Glasgow ship-owner whom Cadell had first met on Iona in 1913, was the first owner of Ben More from Iona. Over the years, he frequently invited Cadell, both to his large house in Dunbartonshire outside Glasgow, and to his yacht when sailing around the Western Isles. Service would call at Iona every summer where he left Cadell alone to work.
