Gabriel Syveton (1864 愺 1904),French historian and politician. founding member of the patriotic and anti-Dreyfus Ligue de la patrie Francaise. involved in scandal when he exposed the existence of a card file compiled from Freemason reports on public officials. He died, apparently from suicide, before being required to appear in court after physically attacking the Minister of War in the Chamber of Deputies. Syveton was found dead in his office by his wife on 8 December 1904.
