The pear-shaped pottery body painted with alternate scrolling bottle-green and white bands, the former with central black stripe and border, the latter with dark blue central stripe, with band of double circles at the upper border, the flat cover cut from a different piece of pottery and painted with central red and green flowerhead within radiating blue and red panels each painted with a white and green flowerhead on stem divided by white panels, the silver-gilt spreading foot mount stamped with a band of egg-and-dart ornament with scalloped edge above, the body enclosed by a reeded moulded scalloped neck mount and two similar vertical straps, one at the front joined to the neck mount, the other extending down from the base of the handle, the rim mount with lower ovolo border and engraved with a band of birds perched within scrolling foliage, the cover with reeded and fluted border, the handle partly enclosed by silver-gilt strap and surmounted by a box mount with lower applied foliage border and stylized lion\'s mask, surmounted by winged male figure thumbpiece.); Photo by Christie\'s Images.
