A Gros Ventres or Atsina Indian encampment along the banks of the Missouri River. Kneelboat with Maximilian, Bodmer and crew stopped opposite the encampment of the Atsina Indians. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels.
