Batley and manufactured by Howell and James, London, 1872-1883. A corner clock, with an ebonised and painted wood case with a gabled top with shaped barge boards enclosing a mirror-backed niche. The clock face is set in a brass casing of white enamelled metal with arabic numerals in a circle, marked \'[???]&Co TO THE QUEEN LONDON\', with a central stylised flower design in blue. The clock has a spring-driven mechanism. The clock is over a spindled gallery and a shaped arched mirror-backed niche, all between styles painted with sunflowers. The base has a small quadrant shelf with a mirrored back and shaped brackets. The carcass is painted with designs of stylised daisies and geometric patterns, and single lines in gold. The clock??? construction is essentially boarded, nailed, screwed or glued at the joints. The back right side has a hinged door giving access to the rear of the clock.
