3060386 \'Golden Spur Guernsey\': the China Trade clipper flying the Chinese flag for protection, c.1872 (oil on canvas) by Unknown Artist, (19th century); 45.7x58.4 cm; Private Collection; (add.info.: \'Golden Spur\' was built by Peter Ogier of St Sampson, Guernsey for G.F Carrington and Co and launched on 15th October by Miss Ellen Rougier. At 200 feet long and 656 tons she was the largest ship to have been launched from the Island at that date. She held the record of 60 days voyage from Cardiff to Hong Kong (1872). Wrecked on Haiphong Bar, Hong Kong in March 1879.); out of copyright.
