Space clothing and metabolism experiments on the ISS. German astronaut Alexander Gerst (born 1976) using the Cycle Ergometer on board the International Space Station (ISS) as part of experiments to test clothing designed for use in microgravity conditions. The shirts cool the astronaut by helping sweat to evaporate. This experiment, named SpaceTex-2, is being run by the European Space Agency (ESA). Gerst is also wearing metabolic monitoring equipment as part of an experiment named Metabolic Space. This image was taken during Expedition 56 to the ISS (June to October 2018), and published on 29 August 2018.
