Apollo 15 crew return, August 1971. The Apollo 15 mission to the Moon took place from 26 July to 7 August 1971. Dressed in blue are the three Apollo 15 astronauts. They are being welcomed home at Ellington Air Force Base (EAFB), Houston, Texas, USA, after an eight-hour flight from Hawaii. Left to right, they are: David R. Scott (commander); Alfred M. Worden (command module pilot); and James B. Irwin (lunar module pilot). The Apollo 15 splashdown in the Pacific took place at 15:45 local time on 7 August 1971. Members of the astronauts' families present include (left to right): Scott's daughter, Tracy; Worden's father, Merrill Worden; Worden's daughter, Merrill; and Irwin's two daughters, Joy and Jill.
