Milky Way galactic centre, supercomputer simulation. This image is from a simulation that views the Milky Way galaxy from the position of its central supermassive black hole (Sgr A*). This shows dozens of massive stellar giants with fierce winds blowing off their surfaces in the region a few light years across that surrounds Sgr A*. Blue and cyan represent X-ray emission from hot gas with temperatures of tens of millions of degrees, while the red emission shows ultraviolet emission from moderately dense regions of cooler gas with temperatures of tens of thousands of degrees.
