String theory, conceptual image. This theory tries to unify the four fundamental interactions: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. Strings are one dimensional physical objects either closed or open. The length of the strings are assumed to be on the order of the Planck Length, the vibrational state of the string determines the type of particle, for example the graviton a particle that carries the gravitational force.
