This 32-page pamphlet is an Air Ministry detailed account of ?渢he Great Days from 8th August-31st October 1940??when RAF pilots successfully defended the British Isles against German Luftwaffe attacks. It was published by the Ministry of Information to inform the British public about the event, boost feelings of patriotism and raise morale. The ministry officials decided that ?渋t should be drafted as a plain and modest account of the way a thousand young men - all of them anonymous - fought one of the decisive battles of the world??The pamphlet was sold for 3d (5p), and was a huge success. Within a week it had sold 300, 000 copies.
