The boys have recently lost their fathers, one is poor and the other rich. The poor boy saw his father in a dream who told him to pay off the rich man's son. Here he tries to do that by offering a gold piece. The rich boy refuses the gold piece and asks him to make a sacrifice to both their fathers instead of payment.
