Composite image of a giant explosion in the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster. This is the largest explosion ever seen in the universe. It is thought to have been caused by the eruption of a supermassive black hole that blasted out jets that carved a cavity into the surrounding hot gas. The Ophiuchus galaxy cluster is located about 390 million light years from Earth. Image composed of X-ray data (pink) from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and ESA's XMM-Newton, radio (blue) data from the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) in Australia and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in India, and infrared data (white) from the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS).
