Cuneiform inscription, 1st millennium BC. This multi-columned tablet contains a list of stones that can be used for various prophylactic or medical purposes. The tablet was found in Mesopotamia and dates from the Achaemenid or Seleucid period, in around the mid-to-late 1st millennium BC. The script on this clay tablet is called cuneiform and was written with a pointed implement. When fired the records written on the clay became permanent. This object is part of the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, USA.
