ISS space walk, 2001. Astronaut Chris Hadfield standing on a Portable Foot Restraint (PFR) outside the International Space Station (ISS). He is working to install the Canadian-built Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS). This robotic arm is also called Canadarm2. Hadfield represented the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) in the first space walk by a Canadian astronaut. The Space Shuttle Endeavour flew this mission (STS-100, 19 April to 1 May 2001). The ISS is a joint effort between NASA, the European Space Agency, the Russian space agency, Canada, Japan and Brazil. It orbits at an altitude of 350 kilometres, has been manned since late 2000.
