Great Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, 2006. The glacier descends towards the south from the Jungfrau region. It is 22 kilometres long. Medial morains clearly indicate the direction of ice flow. See image C048/1775 for the glacier in 2019, showing the massive recession due to climatic warming.
