Ireland; Co. Mayo; Achill Island: Achill-henge; built 2011; view from outside. Ireland`s curious answer to British number one attraction Stonehenge was built in 2011 within one weekend. it consists of 30 pillars made of concrete. Builder and "artist" was Joe NcNamara; who called Achill-henge as well "Burial place (Memorial) of the Celtic tiger". Joe McNamara is a local entrepeneur and builder and very well known for his continous political fighting against the irish financial and economic crisis of 2007 to 2013 and especially against the Anglo-Irish Bank. Once; he started to break the Iron gate to irish Parliament in Leinster House; Dublin; with a truck concrete mixer; but failed. He was forced by judges and justice; to remove Achill-henge; since 2012; but refused. Instead; in 2017; the inner circle of Achill-henge had been painted with a new series of mural paintings. The place has become also a hot spot for esoteric groups which leave items in th inner centre of Achill-henge. Around Achill-henge; there are indeed four megalithic structures; the most important one is East Keel near Slievemore. In Keel; local rebel McNamara is a discussed person. In 2005; he bought the Pub The Village Inn; once the preferred inn of Heinrich B鰈l (1917 - 1985); winner of Nobel Prize in Literature 1972; and destroyed the inn; totally.
