Bronze vase, 16th or 19th century, (1881). Etching of a vase with handles in the form of acanthus leaves, made in northern Italy, possibly Venice. The dating of this object has not been problematic. It may have been made c1520-c1560 by the Alberghetti foundry, or it could have been manufactured in the first half of the 19th century. From "The South Kensington Museum", a book of engraved illustrations, with descriptions, of the works of art in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (formerly known as the South Kensington Museum). [Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington, London, 1881]
