Brachyphyllum schenkii fossil. Brachyphyllum is a now extinct genus of bushy coniferous plants characterized by scale like, short, broad leaves. Plants of this genus have been variously assigned to several different conifer groups, including Araucariaceae and Cheirolepidiaceae. They have lived around the globe from the Late Carboniferous to the Late Cretaceous periods.
