'Portrait of a Lady in Red', 1460-1470, (1934). Portrait of an unknown woman in an embroidered cap decorated with pearls. Her high forehead, achieved by shaving or plucking, is emphasised by the prophile view. Painting originally acquired as a portrait of Isotta da Rimini by Piero della Francesca but probably by a Florentine artist, in the National Gallery in London. From "The Connoisseur", Vol 93, No 389, January 1934. [The Connoisseur Ltd., London, 1934]
